CIRCLE / SQUARE
an event about looking and listening
December 10 2013
Introduction by Philippine Hoegen followed by a reading by Carolien Stikker in which she explained the title of the event.
An improvisation by Hidde van Schie, using a guitar and a 'loop'.
Anouk de Clercq presented us with a letter, which begins with the sentence: "I have decided to write to you so that I can remain silent..."
It was read, in full concentration, by all and in utter silence..
Peter Jens explained the phenomenon that sound and image only reach our senses simultaneously at 14 meters distance.
'The Tuners Monologue', by Eleni Kama, was read by Philippine Hoegen,
'The Golden Section' by Oscar van de Boogaard was read by Carolien Stikker...
Arend Niks talked about sound and vision, about the act of playing and what a player thinks about when playing...
and following Arends advice, we closed our eyes to listen.
